Carolina Global Launch: South Korea


Location: Seoul, South Korea

Program Description: UNC is excited to offer Carolina Global Launch, which provides the opportunity for invited students to study abroad in the fall semester and then enroll at Carolina the following spring semester. By studying in South Korea at Korea University for the fall semester, students will immerse themselves in a new culture at an international university, specifically selected by Carolina for its academic strength and breadth of opportunities. Carolina Spring Forward students will earn credit toward their Carolina degree, take part in exciting excursions, and get to know other Tar Heels! To provide a comprehensive program with on-site support, UNC is partnering with Academic Programs International (API), a recognized leader in study abroad programs known for delivering international experiences that inspire learning and enrich students.

UNC William D. Weir Honors Fellowships in Asian Studies


Location: Beijing and Shanghai, China

Program Description: William D. Weir Honors Fellowships in Asian Studies offer Carolina undergraduates a unique opportunity to develop their language skills and gain practical, independent work experience in Chinese.The program is designed for students who have started their Chinese language journey and would like to develop advanced working language skills. Up to three fellowships are awarded annually (two will be awarded in 2024). Recipients spend the Spring semester in Beijing for intensive language study at the CET Chinese Language Center. They then devote eight weeks during the Summer to an unpaid internship in Shanghai, based at the CET Shanghai Program center. Internships are available to match a broad range of student interests, from law and business to the arts, journalism, and health and human services.

Hebrew University of Jerusalem


Location: Jerusalem, Israel

Program Description: In 1925, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem was established with three aims: to become an internationally recognized institution; to foster an understanding of the Jewish state; and to be the finest university of Israel. Almost seventy-five years later, each of these ambitions has been realized by the University in the capital of Israel. Approximately 3,000 of the 18,000 students at this non-denominational university are international students. The Rothberg School for Overseas Students, established in 1971, recognizes and facilitates the curricula of international students at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
